TECHNICAL OVERVIEW OF MCC COIL TRANSFER CARTS
A coil transfer cart is an in-plant material-handling machine that supports and moves a heavy coil between defined pickup and discharge points. The same equipment class may be called a coil transfer car, coil transfer trolley, coil transport cart, coil transporter, coil handling cart, or coil transport cradle. The industrial meaning should be confirmed because “coil car” can also refer to railroad or line-specific equipment.
A dedicated steel coil transfer cart provides a stable support surface, controlled travel, repeatable stopping, and operator control for short in-plant moves. It can reduce repeated forklift or overhead-crane handling between storage, staging, and production while helping protect coil edges and surfaces. Use the heavy-duty coil-handling selection guide to compare the workflow and estimate operational value.
The MCC platform uses a reinforced welded-steel structure, dual direct-drive gear motors, heavy-duty sealed bearings, battery power, wireless remote control, polyurethane wheels, and controlled multidirectional travel. Application-dependent options can include joystick control, lithium batteries, a protective rubber contact surface, LiDAR-based obstacle detection, rail-guided travel, and engineered V-deck or V-cradle support. Standard versus optional scope should be confirmed in the quotation.
HEAVY DUTY CONSTRUCTION
Made to Stand Up to Constant Use.
The reinforced welded-steel structure is designed to limit deflection under the specified coil load. Dual direct-drive gear motors provide controlled powered travel, while heavy-duty sealed bearings support repeatable movement in demanding industrial service.

ALL ELECTRIC
Smooth Operation
We use a dual electric-powered gear motors that drive two wheels which provide smooth and safe travel and rotation.A brake motor and gear reducer provide a smooth drive and rotation without jerking or sudden speed changes which could destabilize the load
FLEXIBLE MOVEMENT
Any Direction You Need
Multidirectional and omnidirectional travel can simplify positioning in tight aisles, staging zones, and production cells. The required motion—free-moving, trackless, or rail-guided—should be selected from the route, floor, stopping points, and handoff geometry.

POLYUREHANE WHEELS
Smooth Ride
Solid polyurethane wheels combine high load capacity, durability, traction, and floor protection. They resist many industrial contaminants, reduce travel noise, and support smooth movement of heavy coil loads.
STANDARD REMOTE WIRELESS CONTROL
Safe Operation at a Distance
Wireless remote control is standard, allowing the operator to command travel and positioning from a safer viewing location. An optional joystick pendant supports precise multidirectional movement during coil pickup, staging, and line delivery.

SAFETY FIRST
Lidar Laser Scanner
The LiDAR sensor scans the surrounding area with laser light and measures reflected signals to build a two-dimensional map. The control system can use this data for obstacle detection, navigation support, distance monitoring, and safer travel around equipment and personnel.
SIMPLIFIED CONTROL PANEL
Easy Access
The slide-out control panel simplifies access to electrical and control components, helping technicians inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain the system without unnecessary disassembly.
STANDARD LEAD ACID BATTERIES
Durable and dependable power
Standard lead-acid batteries provide proven, cost-effective power for heavy-duty transfer duty. Battery capacity and charging arrangements should be selected from travel distance, loaded cycles per shift, dwell time, opportunity charging, and required reserve.

HIGH QUALITY COMPONENTS
We Use Brand Name Components You Know, Already Use and Trust.
We use only the finest quality components that are open source, and readily available locally in your area, or from our online parts store. We do not use any impossible to find proprietary components.
HIGHEST RETURN ON INVESTMENT
We Give You More Value for Your Money.
Return on investment depends on the current handling method, labor time, crane or forklift availability, coil damage, changeover delays, maintenance, and production losses. MetalPress can help compare those costs with a dedicated MCC transfer workflow and define the assumptions used in a payback calculation.

JOYSTICK CONTROL
Ergonomic control
The optional joystick pendant provides ergonomic control for smooth multidirectional travel and fine positioning. It can be worn with the supplied neck strap so the operator can maintain a clear view of the coil, route, and handoff point.
RUBBER COVER
Added Load Protection
An optional protective rubber cover adds slip resistance, cushions contact, reduces vibration and noise, and helps protect coil surfaces from impact or abrasion during movement.

SAFETY EDGE
Add Worker Protection
Depending on your circumstances our optional full perimeter safety edge may be a good option for added worker protection and uneven floors
SAFETY RAILS
Add Worker Protection
Our MCC Series is available with a total of four optional safety rails on both sides for added worker protection and safety incase the load shifts. The rails are removable

LITHIUM BATTERIES
Faster Charging
Optional lithium batteries provide longer service life, faster charging, higher energy efficiency, and reduced routine maintenance. They can be useful when the cart has frequent cycles, limited charging time, or demanding availability targets.
COLOR OPTIONS
Two standard colors are avaliable.

Specify the Coil, Route, and Handoffs Before Selecting Capacity
Start with the maximum and minimum coil weight, OD, ID, width, center of gravity, contact-surface requirements, pickup and discharge heights, route, floor condition, cycles per shift, charging window, stopping accuracy, and upstream or downstream equipment. Then choose V-deck or V-cradle support, retention, wheel material, free-moving or rail-guided travel, battery technology, wireless or joystick control, LiDAR, safeguarding, and automation. The MetalPress MCC Series is a heavy-duty, all-electric, battery-powered coil transfer cart and coil transfer car for controlled movement of steel, aluminum, and specialty-metal coils inside industrial facilities. This motorized coil-handling machine moves a supported coil between storage, staging, slitting, cut-to-length, press-feeding, decoiler, uncoiler, and production areas.
Equivalent buyer terms include steel coil transfer cart, steel coil transfer car, motorized coil transfer cart, electric coil transfer cart, coil transfer trolley, coil transport cart, coil transporter, coil handling cart, and coil transport cradle. The MCC can be engineered for free-moving trackless travel, multidirectional or omnidirectional positioning, or a rail-guided route when the application requires it.
As a custom industrial coil transfer cart manufacturer and supplier, MetalPress sizes the machine around coil weight, outside diameter, width, center of gravity, deck or V-cradle geometry, loading height, travel distance, floor condition, controls, battery duty, and required line handoffs. Request a coil transfer cart quote after these inputs are defined; price and total installed cost depend on capacity, route, deck, power, controls, safeguards, and integration.
